Welcome back to hockey! There are a few steps that you will need to take to help keep you and your fellow players safe.
First, you’ll need to register to play! Register yourself by filling in England hockey’s Player Participation Form.
You only need to do this once, at least 24 hours before you first play.
Important Note: Ignore question 6 and you’ll find “North Wilts HC” in question 7!
Next, watch this video from England Hockey. It’s short and full of essential information.
Whilst at Home
Once you’ve registered to play…
Make sure that you don’t have any symptoms of COVID-19 before leaving home.
However minor they are, if you do have symptoms then please don’t come & play hockey. Contact the NHS and follow their guidance.
Contact our covid-19 officer for track and trace purposes if after playing hockey, you develop symptoms or are told to isolate.
Pack your kit bag
Pack and bring all your usual equipment, stick, shin-pads, gum-shield etc. Also bring along your own water bottle & some hand sanitiser. Please come changed and ready to play where possible. We can’t guarantee that changing facilities or showers will be available afterwards either.
Travel to venue
Walking or cycling is best. Don’t forget that you’ll need a mask if you use public transport. If you’re car-sharing, then keep to a maximum of 3 people per car, all wearing masks & keep to the same groups if you can, open the windows where possible & wash or sanitise your hands before and after journeys. The driver should also clean the inside of their car before and afterwards. For away matches mileage allowance will be available for a maximum of 5 drivers carrying players.
Arrival at venue
Rules may change or be different depending on the venue. Your coach, team captain or our Covid-19 officer will tell you what we need to do.
Keep 2m apart from others at all times on the way in.
Place your kitbag against the fence 2m from anyone elses.
During training or play
Have fun! … but consider the following:
Maintain 2m social distancing where you can; including breaks, team-talks & even goal celebrations!
Don’t pick up hockey balls with your hands. Using your feet or stick is best.
Avoid excessive shouting, and please, no spitting
Tap sticks rather than hand shakes
Abide by the England Hockey Code of Ethics and Behaviour and respect the umpires / coaches.
You should adhere to social distancing guidelines, when collecting kit etc.
Wash or sanitise your hands as soon as possible.
Socialising may be limited or not possible depending on the venue. If it is possible to socialise, then maintain social distancing and abide by the rules of the venue.
Ideally, travel with the same people that you arrived with.
Unpack and clean your kit before your next session
